Ju-Jitsu is a misspelling. So is Jiu-Jitsu. It's JUJUTSU. In Japanese, it makes sense. The others don't. It is not a ground style, but a complete system of combat time tested through thousands of battles over thousands of years from India, China, and Japan where it was mastered by the Samurai. It has strikes, locks, throws, many techniques not at all limited to ground fighting. People thinking Ju-Jitsu is the legendary style are being misled. Ju-Jitsu is barely over a hundred year old and is only based on a single facet of true JUJUTSU. A sport martial art is not a true martial art. Martial arts weren't intended for meager glory in a ring. Ju-Jitsu is only a sport, not a martial art. JUJUTSU is a martial art. That said, I have respect for all fighters and martial artists, but would rather not be mistaken for a ground fighter when someone asks me what my style is. Phonetically, all the alternate spellings of Jujutsu sound the same, and it's going to smother the opinions of those looking to practice the traditional style. Sayonara.

I have been teaching this style of Ju-Jitsu, and have been trying to get into some competitions for my students. Our belts are based on Kenpo ranking, so it is hard to find meets that will allow them to compete in certain competitions.
