I used to go lion hunting with a CLUB. :-O

It wasn't dangerous though, there were about two hundred of us and it was a rifle club. :-))

That's all a complete lie by the way.

Aye, it's the same thing, but I think RNC is more a WWF name? Although the Lion Killer sounds much fancier in my opinion!

I'm surprised they're not the other way round :-))

Directly translated, hadaka jime means "naked strangle" or "naked choke" of which there must be loads. i.e. any choke or strangle that doesn't use the victim's gi or any other foreign object to throttle 'im.

Our lads have nicknamed the "Lion Killer" the "Gracie Choke" as the Gracies used it to such good effect in competition.

Just had a look in my Japanese translation stuff I've downloaded,

(I know that makes me sound really nerdy/analy-retentive but after my last grading, where I was asked for the definitions of loads of japanese terms and looked like a complete fool when I didn't know the answers, I resolved to learn as many as I could)

"Ura" and "Ushiro" both mean back or rear - Any idea which you'd use for a choke Andy?

Just a thought -
My club still use a lot of japanese during training, do most BJJ dojos use English, Japanese or Portugese?

A typical BJJ class is more like a family get-together compared to a traditional martial ats class - just to give you some idea.

Find one near to you, or go visit one further a-field, it'll be an experience I'm sure, plus, you'll love it. :-)

what is a traditional martial arts class?

the reason we all got taught about standing in line and bowing is becuase the first westerners to learn martial arts were soldiers during world war 2 and thats the only way they could learn

"no weapon formed against me shall prosper"
