This has very possibly been asked before, so apologies if I am treading on old ground.

I am cosidering LASIK eye surgery in the next couple of months, but the advice I read is that it is not suitable for people who participate in martial arts or boxing (I do both). However the recommended alternative, PRK, was not recommended by my opthamologist because of a family history of glaucoma and the length of time PRK patients take to recover vision.

I read that even years after surgery, it is possible that the flap created on the eye could be dislodged or even knocked clean off by a violent blow. Well, I have no ambition to develop beyond training – certainly no competition ambition - but a general self development, so I was wondering if any other LASIK survivors continue to train and spar without problems?

I'm afraid that's all beyond me.

Hopefully someone else can offer some advice.

Weird as it sounds, there are sports goggles you can get to protect your eyes. Not very stylish to some though, hope your're not too self conscious!?!?!?
