This drill is used to familiarise yourself with sparring techniques.
You should start with yourself and your partner facing eachother, both with left foot forward.
As your partner strikes with a right-handed straight punch and steps forward with their right foot, you should use a right-handed high parry to block the strike and step back with your left foot.
Your partner now strikes with a left-handed straight punch and steps forward with their left foot. You block the strike with a left-handed high parry and step back with your right foot.
Your partner now strikes with a right one step front snap kick. You should block the kick with a right-handed low parry and step back with your left foot.
Your partner now strikes with a left one step front snap kick. You should block the kick with a left-handed low parry and step back with your right foot.
Once you have finished the drill you will be stood in the same position as you started. Repeat the whole drill with you striking and your partner blocking going in the opposite direction.
