In some cases you might be awarded it by a panel of peers or the Grandmaster of the system/style. Of course some people just lay claim to having started a style and then award themselves a 10th. I seem to recall some JJ master in UK getting into trouble cos he used signatures (falsley) of two Japanese masters to suggest he was a particular dan grade. See how well I block all your |
